Networked Computer Systems

ABPC specialises in networked computer systems. We understand the hardware and software requirements to have a networked computer system running efficiently and reliably.

The key to a successful networked computer system is a combination of efficient software, dependable structured cabling, reliable connections and fast switching and routing. Even a small office network can be hampered by inadequate layout or poor quality components.

10Mb/s, 100Mb/s or faster

When choosing a network, you need to arrange for all the components to work together efficiently. One slow connection will hamper the whole network.

There are two speeds available in standard CAT5 cable, 10 Megabits per second or 100 Megabits per second. We recommend using 100Mb/s rather than 10Mb/s.

For even better performance and for longer distances, we can supply and install fibre-optic cable networks and enhanced CAT5e and CAT6 cable.

Structured Cabling Installation and Support Service

We can install CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 and fibre-optic cabling. We generally require a site-survey in order to plan the routing of cables and assess the requirements for building works etc.

The areas highlighted in red on the adjacent map are currently covered by our standard network installation and support service. Other areas of mainland UK will be considered subject to support level required.

Our technicians will work out-of-hours if necessary to network your offices without affecting the day to day running of your business. With thorough testing, you can be assured of a reliable network solution.

Network Software

Microsoft Windows operating systems have all the standard network software that will allow your PCs and servers to talk to each other and to enable the sharing of disk services, printers and other devices.

However, there are limitations in many software packages that do not allow them to be used concurrently by two or more users at once. For this you need multi-user software. Our bespoke software is developed for multi-user operation.

Enhanced Network Support Service

For customers that require network support on a call-out basis, we can offer this service UK-wide with support level agreements ranging from next-day cover to 24 hour server monitoring.
